2017 President’s Cup

The Band Boosters approved entering the 2016-2017 NBHS Wind Ensemble in The President’s Cup National High School Band Festival which will take place March 30 – April 2, 2017, in the greater Washington, D.C. area. The cost for the trip is $850 per participant. A $50 deposit for those students and adults attending is due on or before April 16, 2016. Please make checks payable to NBBB and designate your / your student’s name in the Memo line. The following payment schedule has been established in order to meet our expenditure obligation dates:

This festival is an invitation only, adjudicated festival for high school wind ensembles. The most accomplished high school music programs have been invited to spend a day with the Soldier-Musicians of the United States Army Band known as “Pershing’s Own.” This world renowned music ensemble has been at the forefront of the concert band world for more than a century.

Each attending band will have the opportunity to perform on-stage at the beautiful Hylton Performing Arts Center in Historic Manassas, Virginia. Following their performance, bands will receive a clinic and instruction by the directors of the U.S. Army Band. To round out the musical instruction, members of the U.S. Army Band will provide masters classes by instrument. The Festival Day will conclude with a feature concert by “Pershing’s Own.”

All 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 band fees must be paid in full and/or paid up to date in order to participate in this event. If you are interested in chaperoning this trip or undertaking a leadership role in making this trip happen, then please contact a member of the Executive Committee.
